Handicapped Anglers for Trout

The managers of this website are concerned about the welfare of all cold water systems. However, a senior's concerns are somewhat different from the general populace. This is primarily centered around access for people of limited mobility.

Position Papers on the Environment

Many issues have a different appearance depending on what window you are looking in at them through. What seems right and logical for a person of mobility may not be right for a senior without the ability to move about freely.  Something as simple as a fallen log across a path might as well be the Great Wall of China to someone in an Amigo.

Roadless areas, for instance, while offering pathways and campsites to able bodied fishermen, are useless to the handicapped. So things like oil and gas wells, while being abhorrent to environmentalists, offer access to the handicapped.

But all people, including the handicapped, should be and are concerned with preserving wild things in wild water. And there are compromises that can be made safely and will benefit both sides. The attached papers offer the opinion of the author of this website and in no way pretend to represent the opinion of all handicappers. They are included on this website to provoke thought.
